赋得古原草送别
Grass on the Ancient Plain: A Farewell
by Bai Juyi 白居易 · 772 – 846
- Grass
- Parting
- Resilience
离离原上草Lush, lush, the grass on the plain —
一岁一枯荣once a year it withers, once a year it thrives.
野火烧不尽Wildfire cannot burn it away;
春风吹又生the spring wind blows and it grows again.
远芳侵古道Its far fragrance creeps over the old road;
晴翠接荒城its bright green meets the ruined town.
又送王孙去Once more I see a friend away,
萋萋满别情and all this rank growth is parting.
